SOURCES & DATA

The ITHACA Digital Collections are a reference digital space for different kinds of users: scholars, who find here innovative and first-rank research on migrations as well as new archives of migrant narratives to exploit; practitioners (ngos, teachers, volunteers involved in the assistance and support of migrant agency), who can acquire fresh knowledge and tools to improve their projects, actions and management; policy makers, who have ITHACA’s research results at their disposal.

The ITHACA Digital Collections were designed in synergy with stakeholders, practitioners and migrants themselves: in particular, migrant communities and individuals were involved in their creation, through interviews and dedicated meetings.

The ITHACA Digital Collections are a digital environment collecting and enhancing narratives and records on and of migration in the past and in the present. They include finding aids, item descriptions and digital objects from dozens of archives, including the largest archival opening in the history of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

Ethics and Data Management

Since its design and implementation, ITHACA devoted a crucial attention to ethics issues related to the subjects of work – narratives on and of migrations – and the ethics in carrying out research and all project activities.

The ITHACA research team follows a specific protocol for the confidential and anonymous collection and treatment of all collected data. More information is available in the Ethics and Data Management section.
