On October 3 and 4, the ITHACA partners gathered in Rethymno (Crete) at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies for the last policy council of the project, together with an exceptional group of stakeholders.

 

The aim was to gather concrete suggestions to use archives of past and present narratives for policies and projects, routines and activities in the field of migrations. Participants, to whom our warms thanks go, were: Eleonora Milazzo (European University Institute, INNOVATE project), Marianne Amar (Musée de l’histoire de l’immigration, France), Claudio Dondi (Education Inspiring Peace Laboratory, Italy), Leila Musson (International Institute of Social History, The Netherlands), Niki Sykara Director of SAMS (Syrian American Medical Society, Greece), Laura Silvia Battaglia (free lance journalist and trainer, Italy and the Middle East), Lex Takkenberg (Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development, ARDD, Jordan and Belgium), Giovanni Fontana (Second Tree, Greece). The results will soon be published on the ITHACA website.

 

The event was accompanied by the exhibition entitled The beginning of the cooperation between UNHCR and Greece, realized by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Service of Diplomatic and Historical Archives, in cooperation with the D’ Directorate-General for International Organisations and D3 Directorate (www.mfa.gr | archive1@mfa.gr) and the United National High Commissioner for Refugees, Representation in Greece in cooperation with the UNHCR Records and Archives Section (www.unhcr.org | archives@unhcr.org).
